Valerie Torres was born and raised in Pasco and is a graduate of a high school within the Pasco School District. As the daughter of immigrants, she has stated that education was a 'game changer' in her life. She has two children enrolled in the district. Torres has been active in the community, successfully campaigning to create a grant program for Hispanic small business owners.
