Van W. Shaw

Van W. Shaw's career in law enforcement began in 1987 with the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (NCSBI), where he served in various roles, including Deputy Director, before retiring in 2015. After retirement from the NCSBI, he joined the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office to lead its Criminal Investigation Division. In 2018, he was promoted to Chief Deputy and was subsequently elected as the 38th Sheriff of Cabarrus County on November 6, 2018. Shaw also served in the United States Army Reserves as a Military Police Officer for ten years. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from Elon University and a Master's in Business Administration from Pfeiffer University.
