Originally from New York, he earned degrees from New York University and Columbia University. Weintraub had a 40-year career as president of First Charter Financial Corporation, a commercial mortgage lender specializing in hospitality and commercial loans. He presented himself as a different candidate, not a lawyer or politician, committed to action, and running out of obligation to protect democracy. Despite launching a campaign, he will not appear on the Democratic primary ballot on July 21, 2026, having withdrawn from the race.
