Virgil L. Shockley is a Republican politician and longtime poultry farmer who previously served four terms as a Worcester County Commissioner in Maryland. First elected in 1998, Shockley represented District 4 and ran for the same seat in the 2022 Republican primary. With over fifty years of farming experience, he and his wife raise chickens on their Snow Hill family farm. During his sixteen years in office, Shockley served on the Tri-County Council for the Lower Eastern Shore and chaired the Rural Maryland Broadband Coordination Board to expand high-speed internet. In 2023, he won the Delmarva Distinguished Citizen Award for his advocacy.
