Wallace Nelson is the current Chairman of the Perquimans County Board of Commissioners. A native of Hertford, NC, he graduated from the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 1976 and has worked as a pharmacist for over 40 years, primarily at ECU Health Bertie Hospital and ECU Health Chowan Hospital. His public service includes a 16-year tenure on the Perquimans County Board of Education and 15 years on the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy. He was first elected to the Board of Commissioners and is currently serving his 15th year. In August 2025, he is set to be installed as President of the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners.
