Will Smith

William C. Smith Jr. is a Democratic State Senator for Maryland's Legislative District 20 in Montgomery County. Serving in the Senate since December 2016, he is the current chair of the Judicial Proceedings Committee. He previously represented the district in the Maryland House of Delegates from 2015 to 2016. An attorney by profession, Smith is also an intelligence officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve and completed a tour of duty in Afghanistan. Prior to his legislative career, he worked for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security during the Obama administration and for the American Civil Liberties Union. He holds a bachelor's degree and a Juris Doctor from the College of William and Mary and a master's degree from Johns Hopkins University.
