Yang Shao was born in China and holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. in chemistry from Harvard University. Since 2018, he has served as a member of the Fremont City Council representing District 4, and previously served on the Fremont Unified School District Board of Education. Professionally, Shao has worked in the biotechnology industry as a director of protein chemistry. He is running for the California State Assembly in District 24.
