As a State Senate candidate, Alawieh publicly stated that American tax dollars must never be used to target civilians and called on Democratic leaders to oppose the Israeli military campaign in Gaza and what he termed an ethnic cleansing campaign in Lebanon, though a later report noted he did not make this a central focus of his Senate campaign.
