In 1986, she moved to Durham, North Carolina, and became an environmental advocate, serving as the Recycling Coordinator for SunShares, a nonprofit serving Durham and Cary. She is the founder of Minorities in Recycling and Environmental Management (MREM) and has been recognized for her work in empowering underserved communities and influencing public policy.
