Michael C. Byrne is an Administrative Law Judge with the North Carolina Office of Administrative Hearings, a position he has held since June 2020. He grew up in Wake County, earned his B.A. from North Carolina State University, and his law degree from Campbell University. Before becoming a judge, he spent over 20 years in private practice focusing on business and commercial law, civil litigation, and representing public employees, particularly law enforcement officers. As an attorney, he argued more than 20 cases before the NC Court of Appeals and won cases that are now cited as precedents. He has been endorsed by the National Association of Police Organizations (NAPO), which represents over 140,000 sworn law enforcement officers; he is the only NC Court of Appeals candidate endorsed by this national police group.
