Aisha Chughtai is the incumbent Minneapolis City Council Vice President for Ward 10, first elected in 2021. She is the first Muslim woman and the youngest person ever elected to the council. Before taking office, Chughtai worked as a union organizer for the SEIU Minnesota State Council and was the campaign manager for U.S. Representative Ilhan Omar's 2018 campaign. The daughter of Pakistani immigrants, she has experienced housing insecurity and is a renter, which shapes her policy focus. She represents a ward where approximately 80% of residents are renters.
