Amerish Babulal "Ami" Bera is an American physician and politician serving as a U.S. Representative from California since 2013. Born in Los Angeles, he earned his bachelor's and medical degrees from the University of California, Irvine. Prior to his time in Congress, Bera worked as a physician, served as the chief medical officer for Sacramento County, and was an associate dean at the UC Davis School of Medicine. In Congress, he serves on the House Foreign Affairs and Intelligence Committees.
