Anne Colt Leitess is the State's Attorney for Anne Arundel County. A Democrat, she was first elected in 2018 and is currently serving her second term. Leitess received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 1988. She began her legal career as an Assistant State's Attorney in Baltimore City. From 1990 to 2013, she served as an Assistant State's Attorney in Anne Arundel County, where she specialized in prosecuting violent crimes. Leitess was first appointed to the position of State's Attorney in 2013, a role she held until 2015. Subsequently, she led the Special Victims Unit as Chief in the Baltimore City State's Attorney's Office from 2015 to 2018 before being elected in Anne Arundel County.
