Ashley Bell was born in Tyler, Texas, and now lives in Winston-Salem, NC. She has 14 years of experience in medicine, working in emergency medicine, primary care, and rural clinics, and 20 years as an educator, including as a public school teacher and university professor. Bell earned a graduate degree from the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 2011 and a Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg in 2019. Originally raised Republican, she became a Democrat in 2016.
