Betty T. Yee is an American politician who served as the California State Controller from 2015 to 2023 and on the California State Board of Equalization from 2004 to 2015. She previously worked as the chief deputy director for budget under Governor Gray Davis. A member of the Democratic Party, Yee also serves as Vice Chair of the California Democratic Party. She announced her candidacy for the 2026 California gubernatorial election, though she suspended her campaign in April 2026.
