Bill Hagerty is the junior Republican Senator for Tennessee, having served since January 3, 2021. He is 66 years old and is next up for reelection in 2026. Before his Senate service, Hagerty was the U.S. Ambassador to Japan from 2017 to 2019 and served as Tennessee's Commissioner of Economic Development from 2011 to 2014. He also worked as director of presidential appointments for the 2016 Trump Transition Team and is a founder of a private equity investment firm. As a Senator, he is a member of the Appropriations, Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, and Foreign Relations Committees, frequently engaging in discussions on foreign policy and economic issues.
