Bobby F. Kimbrough, Jr. is the first African-American Sheriff of Forsyth County, first elected in 2018 and re-elected in 2022. He has over four decades of law enforcement experience, beginning his career in 1984 with the Winston-Salem Police Department. He later served as an Arson Investigator for the Winston-Salem Fire Department, worked with high-risk offenders for the N.C. Department of Probation and Parole, and was a Special Agent with the U.S. Department of Justice's Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) from 1995 to 2016. Kimbrough holds a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from High Point University, a Master's degree in Leadership from Piedmont International University (now Carolina University), and an honorary Doctor of Laws from Carolina University. He has also completed leadership courses at Harvard University.
