He has more than 20 years of law enforcement experience, including serving as a Deputy Sheriff in Forsyth County. Leyba previously ran for Forsyth County Sheriff in 2022, losing in the general election to incumbent Bobby Kimbrough. He also ran unsuccessfully in the 2018 Republican primary for the same office.
