Brendan Sweeney was born in Buffalo, New York. He received a bachelor's degree from Canisius College in 2002 and a graduate degree from Niagara University in 2011. Before becoming a middle and high school social studies teacher, he worked in the private financial sector. Sweeney and his wife moved to Stanley in 2021 with their children. He serves on his church's Pastoral Council. He has previously addressed the Stanley Town Council regarding concerns about property tax increases.
