Zack Matheny is a native of Statesville, North Carolina, and a graduate of NC State University. He has lived in Greensboro for over two decades. Matheny previously served on the City Council for District 3 from 2007 to 2015. He stepped down to become the president of Downtown Greensboro Inc. (DGI), where he helped oversee significant revitalization projects. He was re-elected to the District 3 seat in 2022.
