Chris Cournoyer

Chris Cournoyer is Iowa's 48th Lieutenant Governor, a role she assumed in December 2024. A lifelong Iowan with a background in technology and business, she previously served as a State Senator where she championed data privacy, tax cuts, and government efficiency. A computer science graduate and former senior consultant, she also ran a successful web development business for over two decades. Cournoyer is running for State Auditor to be a fiscal conservative watchdog, prioritizing transparency, efficiency, and a business-minded approach to protect taxpayer dollars and keep politics out of the office. She aims to improve local government efficiencies, integrate AI into auditing, and modernize government operations. She is also a former school board member, educator, and reserve sheriff’s deputy.
