Chris VanDijk

For Chris VanDijk, public safety isn't a vague campaign pitch; it’s his everyday job. As a local firefighter/engineer and EMT, Chris puts on his gear to protect the exact neighborhoods where he lives and raises his family.

His lifetime of hands-on service began in the U.S. Navy Reserve. Today, alongside his frontline emergency work, Chris serves as a union advocate with the International Association of Fire Fighters, fighting for worker safety, fair pay, and community protection.

Chris pairs that crisis response experience with a Master of Public Policy from the University of Colorado Denver. This background equips him to translate real-world emergency response into practical laws, sound budgeting, and smart policy. As a Commerce City resident and stay-at-home dad, he understands the everyday pressures facing local families.

Backed by labor unions, business organizations across the state, and community advocates and leaders, Chris brings proven, frontline experience and deep policy expertise to State House District 32.
