Clayton Jones

Clayton Jones was born in Gastonia, North Carolina, and has been a resident of Weddington for 27 years. He graduated from South Mecklenburg High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science from Appalachian State University in 1982, a Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University in 1985, and a Master of Laws from The George Washington University in 1997. Jones served in the United States Navy Judge Advocate General's Corps from 1985 to 2020, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander. Following his military career, he worked as an Assistant District Attorney, where he primarily prosecuted homicides. He is now retired but maintains an active law license.
