Clifton Douglas "Doug" Green was appointed by Governor Roy Cooper to serve as Superior Court Judge in Judicial District 17, filling a vacancy from a retirement. He previously served as a District Court Judge in the same district, also by appointment from Governor Cooper. Prior to his judicial roles, Green was an Assistant Attorney General in the North Carolina Department of Justice, worked as an attorney with Smith Giles, PLLC, and served in the Alamance County District Attorney's Office. He earned his Bachelor of Arts from Duke University, a Masters in Business Administration from Elon University, and a Juris Doctor from the North Carolina Central University School of Law.
