Cody Smith

Cody Smith, a Des Moines-based environmental advocate and openly gay leader, is campaigning for Iowa House District 33. A first-generation college graduate from a working-class family, Smith previously served as the first openly gay student body vice president at Iowa State University. He's built a career in environmental policy, advocating for clean water, climate resilience, and public health. Smith is motivated by the need for new leadership, fighting for policies that address rising cancer rates, housing costs, and to raise the minimum wage, promising to build a state Iowans can be proud of.
