David Monroe is a retired U.S. Marine Colonel who served for over 34 years. He enlisted at age 17 in 1982 and was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant after graduating from Saint Francis College in Brooklyn, New York. Following his active duty, he joined Diplomatic Security (DS) and served on the Secretary of State's Protective Detail for Madeleine Albright and Colin Powell. His career included deployments and assignments with the 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit, the Joint Terrorism Task Force in New York, and overseas postings in Kosovo and Baghdad. He retired from the Marine Corps in 2016. He is currently a rehired annuitant Special Agent with the Naval Criminal Investigative Service. He is a Life Member of the VFW and NRA, and President of the Marine Corps Mustang Association. He resides in Cape Carteret with his wife, a retired Marine Corps Major.
