David Weatherspoon is a Democratic candidate vying for a seat in the Tennessee State Senate, representing District 31, in the August 6, 2026 primary election. An ordained Baptist minister, he holds a bachelor's degree from Belmont University and an M.Div. from Mercer University. Weatherspoon has a background in clergy and chaplaincy, having served various institutions including Methodist Le Bonheur Healthcare, Franklin College, Grady Hospital, Peachtree Baptist Church, and Emory University. He also participated in White House discussions as a chaplain in 2010 and 2012. He previously ran for this same State Senate seat in 2018.
