David Young, born May 11, 1968, and a resident of Van Meter, Iowa, is an incumbent Republican State Representative for Iowa's 28th district. He assumed office in January 2023 after winning election in 2022 and was reelected in 2024. Previously, Young served as the U.S. Representative for Iowa's 3rd congressional district from 2015 to 2019. He earned his BA from Drake University. As a legislator, Young has championed issues important to veterans, sponsoring legislation to reduce suicides among them, and voted to uphold protections against discrimination for LGBT employees. His past campaign themes emphasize American optimism, balancing the budget, and holding government accountable. He is currently seeking re-election in 2026.
