Tom Walton

Tom Walton is a Democratic candidate for Iowa House District 28, representing West Des Moines, Van Meter, and Adel. A Cedar Falls native with law and bachelor's degrees, he practiced law for 31 years and is now Director of Legal Services and General Counsel for Delta Dental of Iowa. His public service includes chairing state criminal justice and public safety boards, appointed by both Democratic and Republican Governors. He is the immediate past Chair of the Dallas County Democrats and has led non-profits. Residing in the Van Meter area, he coaches youth sports and a high school debate team. Inspired by his first caucus 40 years ago, Walton advocates pragmatic solutions for Iowa, prioritizing public schools, the nursing shortage, state growth, environmental protection, and quality childcare. He seeks common-sense problem-solving to win the district in 2026, which was narrowly lost in 2024.
