Dayna Polehanki is a Democratic member of the Michigan State Senate, having first assumed office in 2019. Before entering politics, she worked as a public school teacher in New Haven Community Schools for nearly 20 years and was twice named Teacher of the Year. Polehanki holds a bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University and a master's degree in teaching from Marygrove College. She has served as the Majority Caucus Chair for the Michigan Senate Democrats.
