Dennis Powers is an incumbent Republican State Representative for Tennessee's House District 36, serving since 2010. Born in 1953, he is a married insurance agent and a member of First Baptist Church of Jacksboro, holding a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee. He chairs the Private Acts Committee and serves on several others, including Judiciary and State & Local Government. Powers has championed legislation strengthening immigration verification, supporting families of fallen linemen, expanding athletic opportunities for virtual school students, and establishing rescue squad standards. He has also secured numerous grants for counties in his district and advocated for investments in state opportunities. He received a champion of business award.
