Dina Titus is the Democratic incumbent representing Nevada's 1st Congressional District in the U.S. House, a seat she has held since 2013. Born in Thomasville and raised in Tifton, Georgia, she earned a bachelor's degree from the College of William and Mary, a master's degree from the University of Georgia, and a doctorate from Florida State University. She taught American and Nevada government at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas for 34 years, retiring in 2011, and represented Nevada Senate District 7 for 20 years (1988–2008), including serving as Democratic Minority Leader from 1993 to 2008. First elected to Congress in 2008, she represented Nevada's 3rd District from 2009 to 2011 before winning the 1st District seat in 2012. She is a Greek Orthodox Christian.
