Ellen Evans is a civil rights advocate, neighborhood leader, and mother. Her activism began during the AIDS crisis, protesting the Reagan Administration's inaction. In 2017, she co-founded the Doheny Sunset Plaza Neighborhood Association to address community challenges. She is a former board member of Equality California. Evans attended Brown University, majoring in public policy, and later joined the Carpenters Union, working as a union carpenter. She and her wife have lived in the district since 1997 and raised their two children there.
