Emily Garcia Uhrig is an incumbent judge of the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, having assumed office in 2018. Her current term is set to end on January 4, 2027. Prior to her appointment to the bench, she was a law professor at the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law from 2006 to 2018. Her legal career also includes serving as a staff attorney for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit (2001-2006), a deputy federal public defender in the Central District of California (1997-2001), and an attorney-advisor at the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Legal Counsel (1995-1996). She began her career as an associate at Hogan and Hartson and clerked for the Honorable Harry Pregerson at the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Uhrig earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Pennsylvania and her J.D. from Stanford Law School.
