I’m Erica Snyder & I’m running for the Princeton Board of Education.

I am running for board of education because... I believe one of the things that makes a district strong is how we handle transitions from a personnel, facilities, and budgetary standpoint. This coming year we are bringing in new staff and superintendent, adding space to buildings, and facing increased enrollment. I will focus on maximizing the promise of these changes while helping to minimize disruption to our students. I believe in providing a rigorous and inclusive curriculum that caters to diverse learning needs. Currently, there's a gap between standard and AP classes. Let's bridge this gap by offering more flexible and challenging opportunities for students to engage deeply with subjects at their own pace.

Students, families and teachers deserve a clear understanding on technology use in the classroom. Now five years post-COVID, I believe a hard look at why, what, and how technology is being integrated across the district is essential to improve student outcomes and create engaging learning experiences.

A Personal Connection to Education

Erica grew up with two educator parents and always wanted to be a teacher. After earning her bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a concentration in history and political science, she moved to Ecuador to teach bilingual education and English as a second language in multiple schools. Upon returning to the States, she worked on the south side of Chicago and the east side of Charlotte as a project-based learning (PBL) specialist in high-needs schools that were part of the innovative New Tech Network. During this time she earned her master’s degree in instructional technology, participated in a Japan Fulbright Memorial Program, and served as an instructional trainer in World Languages for PBL. Her next steps in education included video-based teaching strategy analysis, micro-badging platform creation and credentialing, and online instruction in PBL.
