Eugene Vindman is an American politician, lawyer, and retired U.S. Army officer, serving as the U.S. Representative for Virginia's 7th congressional district since January 3, 2025. A Democrat, he was previously a deputy legal advisor for the National Security Council until 2020. Born June 6, 1975, he holds bachelor's, master's, and law degrees. Vindman is assigned to the House Agriculture and Armed Services Committees. He expressed strong opposition to U.S. actions in the 2026 Iran War, citing lack of legal justification, and voted for a War Powers Resolution. He is running for reelection in the 2026 Democratic primary for Virginia's 7th Congressional District, though he intends to seek the 1st Congressional District seat under proposed new maps, campaigning to protect fair representation.
