Eva Lopez Chavez, born in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a Democrat and a proud daughter of Mexican immigrants. She earned an associate degree from Salt Lake Community College and a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of Utah. Her professional background includes roles as a project manager, mayor's office liaison, and paralegal, and she has served as the executive director and chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party. She has advocated for saving the Great Salt Lake, achieving attainable housing, and supporting small businesses. She ran for U.S. House in Utah's 1st Congressional District in 2026, but withdrew from the primary after losing the Democratic convention.
