Gary Wayne Freeman is a painter, printmaker, and educator. He has been a working artist for over 30 years and is known for his Carolina landscapes and architectural studies. Freeman earned an Associate of Fine Arts from Gaston College, a B.S. in Art Education, and a Master of Arts in printmaking from East Carolina University. His career in education includes serving as Head of Fine Arts at Gaston College, from which he retired in 2014, and teaching at various other institutions including Gardner-Webb University. He has also owned the Heritage Park Art Center in Cherryville. His current term on the City Council runs from 2021 to 2025.
