Geonta L. Simmons is a Democratic candidate for the Anne Arundel County Council, seeking to represent Councilmanic District 1. A lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, he was raised in the Brooklyn Park community. Simmons is a graduate of North County High School. He continued his education locally, earning an associate degree with honors from Anne Arundel Community College before obtaining a bachelor's degree in Policy, Politics & International Affairs from the University of Baltimore. In January 2023, at the age of 22, he was appointed to the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee to represent District 12B. His campaign platform is focused on addressing public safety, fostering economic development, and increasing affordable housing.
