Gregory Markkanen is a Republican member of the Michigan House of Representatives representing District 110 since 2019. Prior to his election, he served as a medical corpsman with the U.S. Army's 82nd Airborne Division and a medic with the Michigan Army National Guard's 107th Engineer Battalion. Markkanen taught high school civics, history, and geography for Baraga Area Schools and served on the Hancock City Council. He holds degrees from Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech Universities.
