Gregory “Dee” Rankin is a native of Charlotte and a program supervisor. He was elected to the Board of Education to represent District 3 in November 2022. Rankin is a former educator who has taught in Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools (CMS) as well as private and charter schools. He earned bachelor's degrees from both North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Charlotte, and a master's degree in public administration from UNC Pembroke. His community involvement includes serving as the chair of the Mayor's Mentoring Alliance and chair of the education committee for the Black Political Caucus of Charlotte-Mecklenburg.
