Heather S. DeWees

Heather S. DeWees is a Republican serving as the Clerk of the Circuit Court for Carroll County, Maryland. She was elected as the first female Clerk in the county's history, taking office in 2018 and beginning her second term in 2022. DeWees focuses on providing accessible and professional court services. She has improved security, met case time standards, and waived marriage certificate fees for military members, veterans, and first responders. In 2024, DeWees served as President of the Maryland Clerks' Association. She is also an instructor for the Maryland Judiciary's Institute for Court Management Certification Program.
