J. Carlvena Foster

J. Carlvena Foster is a lifelong resident of High Point and has served on the Guilford County Board of Commissioners representing District 1 since 2014. She currently serves as the Vice-Chair of the board. Prior to her role as a commissioner, she was a member of the Guilford County Board of Education from 2008 to 2014. For 25 years, Foster was the Executive Director of the Carl Chavis Memorial Branch YMCA in High Point. In 2019, she was named the High Point Citizen of the Year. Foster earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Shaw University and a Master of Science in Public Administration from High Point University. She has also pursued doctoral studies in Educational Leadership.
