Jackie E Hayes

Jackie E. Hayes, also known as Coach Hayes, is an incumbent Democratic member of the South Carolina House of Representatives, representing District 55 since 1998. Born in Marion, SC, he earned a B.A. from Catawba College and has served as an Athletic Director and Football Coach since 1987, notably at Dillon High School. Inspired to run for office to make positive changes in his local school district, he focuses on improving and fully funding the state's education system. Hayes serves on the House Ways and Means and Rules Committees. In 2022, he was the sole Democrat on the Ways and Means Committee to vote for a bill restricting abortion access without exceptions for rape or incest.
