James "Jim" Andrew Burgin was born in Knoxville, Tennessee. He earned a bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Burgin is the President and Owner of C&D Insurance, President of B.C. Property Inc., and a partner in John Heister Automotive. He previously served two terms as a Harnett County Commissioner, including as chairman of the board. He was first elected to the North Carolina State Senate in 2018 and assumed office on January 1, 2019. His current term ends on January 1, 2027. He resides in Angier, North Carolina with his wife, Ann; they have three children.
