James F. Elliott

James F. Elliott, a Republican, serves as the State's Attorney for Allegany County, Maryland, a position he has held since January 3, 2023. He was initially appointed as the interim State's Attorney on February 24, 2021. A native of Allegany County, Elliott is a graduate of Frostburg State University and the University of Baltimore School of Law. His prior experience includes serving as the District Public Defender for Allegany and Garrett counties from 2017 to 2021 and as an Assistant Public Defender for six years before that. He ran for and was elected to the State's Attorney position in the 2022 general election.
