He has also studied mechanical drawing, computer science, and real estate at Catawba Valley Community College, earning his real estate license in 1983. His professional experience includes working as a commercial real estate broker, a Technical Communications Specialist for SIECOR, and for Deville Furniture. He has resided in Hickory, North Carolina, since 1975. Adams has served on numerous boards and committees for the Catawba County Chamber of Commerce, the Western Piedmont Council of Governments, and the City of Hickory.
