James Leo Furstenberg, III is a nonpartisan candidate for the City Council in Cumberland, Maryland. He was first elected to the Cumberland City Council during the 2022 general election and took office in 2023. Born in Cumberland, Furstenberg graduated from Fort Hill High School in 1988. He worked at Koppers Industries for twenty years as an environmental tech and heavy equipment operator. Since 2015, he has been employed by the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services. He also volunteers by mentoring local youth and coaching sports. Furstenberg and his wife, Stephanie, reside in Cumberland with their five children.
