James W. Crawford, Jr.

James 'Jim' Walker Crawford, Jr. is a retail developer from Oxford, North Carolina. He was born in Durham, NC, on October 4, 1937. Crawford earned a degree in Industrial Relations from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He served in the United States Navy and as an Oxford city commissioner before being elected to the North Carolina General Assembly. A Democrat, Crawford served fourteen terms in the state House of Representatives, representing districts that included Granville and Vance counties. During his tenure, he served as a chairman of the House Appropriations committee. After being defeated in a 2012 primary, he was appointed to the state Board of Transportation. He is the founder of Crawford Properties.
