Janet Hong was appointed as a Judge to the Superior Court of Los Angeles County by Governor Gavin Newsom in July 2024. Prior to her appointment, she was a sole practitioner starting in 2015 and served as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of California, Irvine School of Law from 2019 to 2023. Her previous experience includes working as a Trial Attorney at the Alternate Public Defender's Office of Los Angeles County from 2006 to 2013 and for The Legal Aid Society from 2002 to 2006. She also worked at the law firms Hennig Kramer Ruiz & Singh and Cheong & Denove. Hong earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Southern California Gould School of Law and a bachelor's degree in African American Studies from Columbia University, where she graduated magna cum laude. At USC Law School, she was President of the Asian Pacific American Law Students Association and participated in the Hale Moot Court Honors Program.
